How this rain sound works
Most rain sounds online are recordings. They repeat every few minutes, and once you notice the same drip coming back, it's hard to stop hearing it. This one is generated live in your browser, so it never repeats.
Steady rain is a broad hiss made of thousands of tiny drops. The Soft rain preset shapes noise to match: it peaks at the 2k and 4k faders, where the patter sits, and turns the deep bass far down. Turn on Drift and the bands slowly swell and fade, like rain getting heavier and lighter.
It's the sound of rain, not a full storm. There are no individual drips, thunder or birds, just the even wash that helps you tune out everything else.
From drizzle to downpour
For a light drizzle, lower 500 Hz and 1k a few steps and leave the top alone.
For heavy rain on a roof, raise the 125 and 250 faders. That adds the lower drumming of big drops.
For rain heard from inside, with the windows closed, lower 8k and 16k. Walls and glass block high frequencies first.

Does it loop?
No. Recordings loop, but this sound is generated live, so there's never a seam or a repeating drip.
Can I add thunder?
Not yet. This is steady rain only. For a deeper, stormier rumble, raise the 31 and 63 faders.
Is rain noise the same as pink noise?
They're related. Both are soft, even hisses. The Soft rain preset has less bass than pink noise and a bump around 2k and 4k for the patter of drops. Tap Pink above to compare.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, after the first visit. The page saves itself for offline use, and the sound is generated on your device, so nothing streams.
Does it keep playing when I lock my phone?
